CD Finds Part 2 – including Liebert and the Gordons

So the two other CDs that I picked up yesterday by unknown artists include Morning Face by a New York singer songwriter Jay Mankita and Greetings from Bridgetown by John Dodge . Like the CD from yesterday I haven’t listened to the CDs yet.

Here’s a little about Greetings from Bridgetown:

The title pays homage to the cover of Bruce Springsteen’s first record, Greetings from Asbury Park, where he took a tourist postcard and simply put his name at the bottom. I wanted to do something similar to showcase Portland and went off in search of the perfect image. Quite suddenly, bang! Hanging in DragonFire, a Cannon Beach, Oregon art gallery, there was the painting by Christopher Bibby. I contacted the artist and we developed a friendship and a partnership (his art, my music). Four of Christopher’s original pieces are featured on the CD package. He’s extraordinarily talented and I urge you to visit his online gallery. You can read more about the CD at his webpage.

Along with the three CDs from these unlnown artists I also picked up two CDs from the New Age section of the store from two artists that I enjoy. The first is flamenco  guitarist Ottmar Liebert’s 1999 release Innamorre  summer flamenco. Liebert and Jesse Cook are my two favorite flamenco guitarists. From Wikipedis:

Liuebert  has released a total of 25 albums including live releases, Christmas CDs, 15 CDs of original music, a DVD and remixes. He has received 38 Gold and Platinum certifications in the USA as well as certifications in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. His debut album sold double-platinum and has become one of the best-selling guitar albums of all time.

In addition he has been nominated five times for Grammy awards.  I listened to a few tracks and liked them I’m sure the album will be a work listening staple!

The other CD I bought was Drum Medicine by David and Steve Gordon . From CD Universe:

Tribal drums from all over the planet, soaring native flutes, guitars, shamanic atmospheres, spirit rattles and nature sounds awaken you to the dance of life! David & Steve Gordon, creators of the #1 Seller, Sacred Earth Drums take you on their greatly anticipated new musical journey. With their native instruments and studio artistry, the Gordon’s have the power to en-trance, summon the sacred rhythms and bring them home for a deepening and uplifting spirituality. Drum Medicine easily straddles the broadening line of world tribal music with a danceable cadence and easy listening. Deep inside you will know this music you have heard it echoing in the canyons of your soul. This is music that touches the spirit within….timeless, compelling, life-changing with the overall added element of pure joy flowing through every offering. Listen, as the healing power of the drum moves you… to dance, to dream, to life!

I have listened to a lot of their music over the years at work and have Gardens of Serenity a favorite in my collection. You can read more about their music at their myspace page : David and Steve Gordon

So the grand total for all five CD  was around $ 17!

Here’s “Butterfly” by Ottmar Liebert
