Better than Before: Mastering the Habits of Our Everyday Lives – Gretchen Rubin

An alternate tag line that would fit this blog is trying to be better than before! That’s my goal to try to make myself better than before! So when I saw that Gretchen Rubin‘s latest book was to be titled Better Than Before: Mastering the Habits of Our Everyday Lives I couldn’t wait to read it! I think that I began reading self-help books at least as far back as college and maybe even earlier. I’ve read the likes of Dale Carnegie,  Wayne Dyer, Depak Chopra and Stephen Covey and still I have the same problems of making changes or forming habits that last. Like Wiley Coyote I keep chasing the perfect me and I keep running right off that cliff or into that mountain. But I think that may change now thanks to Gretchen Rubin’s book which was the 36th book I’ve read in 2015 and maybe the most important!! See I don’t know if any of the books that I have read before answer the question that is at the core of Better Than Before and that is How Do We Change? Gretchen’s answer – by using habits! A New Habit a Morning Run ignited by Scheduling

Gretchen Rubin’s Better Than Before leads to a run and scheduling!

When I got up this morning, I had every intention of doing my Kundalini/Weights routine that I have been doing every Monday and Friday. But as I sat at the computer looking at the new music released this morning, up popped a reminder that I was scheduled for a run between 8 and 10 this morning! The reason that the memo appeared was that this week I have been reading Better Than Before: Mastering the Habits of Our Everyday Lives the latest from Gretchen Rubin.

A Happiness Project Update and Books 28 and 29 of 2012

So I’ve learned one thing during the first month of my happiness project, I suck at keeping track of my resolutions by marking a chart each day!! But that doesn’t mean that I haven’t been working on the resolutions.  Over the last 20 days, I’ve been exercising regularly, running three times a week and trying to eat a little better. I’ve had whole wheat bagels with cream cheese a couple of times for breakfast and started putting walnuts back on my cereal in the morning, I also switched to natural waffles!
