Donald Byrd + Junior Wells’ Music = Great Run!!

The Run – Harper Loop – 4.25 miles

So how could I not run when the temperature is in the  60s in December! I was waffling earlier yesterday afternoon, but I did finally decide that the weather was just to nice to pass up! I decided that I would run the Harper Loop. I figured that the run up Pancoast would be a good  training challenge, but the main reason was that I can complete the run without crossing any main roads.

The Run – Harper Loop – 4.25 Miles

So I didn’t run on Sunday. The excuse that I gave myself was that I was having my early blood work done on Monday morning and in the past it seemed that running may have effected my liver numbers. The other reason may have been I was being lazy. The one thing that I did know was that I was not going to be lazy on Monday!! I was however going to take it easy on the run, because I thought that there was going to be a chance that I was also going to run today. Today’s run was canceled due to rain….the fair weather runner opts out again!!

The Run – November 12, 2015 – Creek Out and Back

Being the fair-weather runner that I am, I was a little concerned on Thursday, when I could see that it was raining in the morning. I thought that maybe my run would be washed out like it was on Tuesday. But the front moved through and by the time I was ready to run at around 4 o’clock it was cloudy but not raining. I decided that I would run my Creek Out and Back since it was getting close to dark and that course crosses only one main street and it is an easy run, which fit well with a day that started a 7 am at Target!!

The Run: Tuesday, November 3, 2015 – Four Miles

So the good news from  Tuesday’s run was that I ran my fastest mile of the year a 9:42 mile! The better news was that it was the fourth mile of a four mile run and came after a 10:21 mile!! So even though I just missed going under 40 minutes for the total time for the run was 40:25, it was still a great run. Here are the mile splits: Mile 1 10:05 /mile, Mile 2 10:11 /mile, Mile 3 10:21 /mile and Mile 4 9:42 /mile.

The Run – Friday October 30, 2015 – 4 miles

So again I am two runs behind. On Friday (Oct 30th) I ran four miles over flat course and then yesterday I ran a practice 10K over portions of the same course and of course adding a coupe of more miles. Yesterday’s run was a little more challenging, I tried to keep it slow throughout the run and did maintain a pace that was slower than Thursday’s run but still maybe a little faster than I wanted to run. In my defense, I will say that I had to keep the pace a little faster because of the impending darkness. I had hoped to start the run around 3 o’clock, but then I went to Target instead and didn’t start my run until around 4:15 so with the end of Daylight Savings Time It was getting dark over the last part of the run!!

Andrea Brachfeld’s Flute powers a Sunday Run

The Run – 10 K – 6.2 Miles

So I have been slacking off on posting what’s happening not because nothing is happening but because I am just being lazy. Not physically, just bloggingly! Is that a word? I think not! Anyway, Thursday and Friday of last week were rainy as we prepared to be soaked from hurricane Joaquin which thankfully turned out to sea and left Saturday and Sunday rain free. As a result, I missed my first Friday run in more than a month, but I did get in my Sunday run. After the hurricane passed, the temperatures tumbled into the low 50s on Sunday morning. When I got up Sunday, I had a headache and felt kinda crappy. But I did my pre-run yoga, and  took some Excedrin and headed out. Over the first mile. my head was pounding and then when I tried to switch my phone from left to right it fell to the ground. I was almost ready to turn around and head back home, but I slogged on and by the end of the second mile, I felt pretty good.

Music from Jerry Jeff Walker Powers A Fine Morning Run!

The Run

This morning when I woke up I felt pretty good and there was no question that I was going to run, My pre-run exercise was my Kundalini-Weights routine followed by a 10-minute meditation, The music for both was Illumination of the Heart the latest release from New Age artist Deuter. The album has been in my rotation for over a week now and has been a soundtrack for yoga/meditation and also a run. When I finished my yoga and changed into my running clothes, I weighed myself and was shocked at a weight of 170 lbs! Down about 3 to 4 pounds from when I started running a month ago!

John Mayall and a Five Mile Run….

Make for a Fine Sunday Morning!

Sunday’s Run

Last week’s running goal was to run more than 12 miles for the week. Yesterday’s five-mile run put my weekly total at 12.1 miles. Yeah Me!! The runs were 3.1 miles, 4 miles and 5 miles. Yesterday’s five-mile run was a comfortable run on a fairly cool morning. The course was a long level loop around Riverside and  Delran. The total distance was just slightly over 5 miles, total time 55:58 at an average pace of 11:00 min/mile. The splits: mile 1 – 11:02 /mile – mile 2 10:50 / mile -mile 3 – 10:55 mile 4 – 11:04 and mile 5 11:16 . last .09 mile – 9:53 / mile (the ending sprint lol!) At least I was able to suck it up and speed up a little! But considering that’s about the pace I  want to run a 5K I still have a way to go!! This is the first week since I started running again, in the early part of August, that the average pace of the three runs was under 11:00 /mile!

Four Mile Runs on Friday and Sunday! Oh My!

Two Four-Mile Runs Boast the Weekly Total Over 10 miles per week! Yeah!

Today’s run brings the total miles that I’ve run this week to 11.1 miles. This is the first week in a very, very long time that I have been over 10 miles per week! Through the years I have typically averaged between 13 to 15 miles per week. I generally ran four miles twice during the week and then 5 to 8 miles on one of the weekend days. But over the last couple of years I have had trouble running three days a week. I always found a way to skip one of the days and many times it was the long run that was skipped! My goal next week will be to run 5 to 6 miles on Sunday!!
