A Great Run and Soundtrack from Shaw Davis and the Black Ties!

I’ll use one word, stolen from motivational speaker Jack Daly, to describe today’s run – BAM!

The weather provided near perfect running conditions this morning and thankfully I was able to take advantage of them. I really didn’t have any great expectations for the run.

However, when I finished the first mile in 10:22 and was running fairly comfortably, I figured I maybe should raise those expectations. I was still hovering around 10:20 and actually was averaging 10:18 through the second mile mark. I thought with a good sprint at the end maybe I can finish with under an average pace of 10:15!

My pace slowed slightly over the next half mile and had dropped to a 10:20 pace, but I held steady then picked up the pace slightly. I was able to finish with a good sprint over the final 0.14 mile of the run.

I was pleasantly shocked at the end of my run to see my final overall pace was 10:12!  Go me!!

Red Sun Rebellion - Shaw Davis and the Black Ties
The Soundtrack – Red Sun Rebellion -Shaw Davis and the Black Ties

The soundtrack for most of the run was Red Sun Rebellion from Shaw Davis and the Black Ties.  I say most of the run because at some point in the last mile or so my headphones would not stop beeping and I ended up carrying them and my phone!

Like Brothers the Oster, Ackerman, Eaton album, I have been eagerly awaiting Red Sun Rebellion. Their 2018 release Tales from the West has been a favorite of mine for a couple of years now.

About Shaw Davis and the Black Ties

Shaw Davis and the Black Ties hail from Pompano Beach, Florida. Since the band’s formation in 2017 their star has been quickly rising

The band is comprised of Davis on guitar, drummer, Bobby Van Stone, and bassist, Patrick Stevenson. And they play their own brand of Psychedelic Blues and Roots Rock,

The group has opened for and shared the stage with some of the nations most respected blues-rock artists such as Albert Castiglia, Chris Duarte, Eric Tessmer, Anthony Gomes, Matt Schofield, GE Smith, JP Soars, Gary Hoey, Ana Popovic, Mike Zito, Popa Chubby, Dana Fuchs, Walter Trout and Samantha Fish.

Additionally, Rock & Blues Muse has dubbed them  as one of the “Top 50 Rock & Blues Artists You Must Hear In 2019” and I’ll add 2021!

While The Rock Doctor says

They’re a three man wrecking crew that infuse the blues with hard rock to gratifying effect”

About Red Sun Rebellion

Red Sun Rebellion
is the result of the band’s teaming with Grammy Award-winner Paul Nelson (known for his work with Johnny Winter). From their website …..

The record unleashes a pioneering blend of retro soundscapes with modern Hard Rock progressivism, embracing influence from the likes of Black Sabbath, Jimi Hendrix, Rage Against The Machine and Rival Sons.

Final Thoughts

The bottom line is that Shaw Davis and the Black Ties are what they say they are a Psychedelic Blues and Roots Rock band with  roots in the 60s and 70s! And they’re damn good!

I know Red Sun Rebellion like Tales from the West is going to be in my music rotation for a long while! And it should be in yours, too!! Check Them Out!!
