Several years ago, WXPN was playing tracks from Brooks Williams CD Hundred Year Shadow . I went out and found the CD and thought the songs and Brooks vocals were good but the guitar playing was great! Awhile later, we saw him at the Point in Bryn Mawr and he put on a great show and once again the guitar playing stood out. I went out and bought a few more of his CDs including Little Lion, which was his first CD of acoustic instrumentals. I was not disappointed!
The album has become one of my all time favorite acoustic guitar albums. From the opening track “O Leaozinho” to the last track “54-46 (Was My Number)” the album is outstanding! “Frenzy at the Feeder” is phenomenal and even more amazing when you see him do it live like I did. “Goodbye Walker Percy” takes you right to the Mississippi delta where you’re sipping a mint julep on the front porch of some plantation house. “Water Song” the Hot Tuna/Jorma Kaukonnen song is also a stand out. All in all the CD is a great listen so try it, you’ll like it.
