Brothers – Oster, Ackerman and Eaton Start My Week Right!

So I was initially going to do a full workout this morning. Then I realized that today is Monday and I would typically be working at Target in the morning. That means I would only be doing a short yoga routine before work. Then at work I’d get a full five and a half hour workout filling the frozen food section! Anyway, I decided to do a mixed workout.

The result was a 50 minute mixed workouti no consisting of 20 minutes of movement combined with light weights and resistance bands, followed by a 30 minute yoga routine. So while it wasn’t a big calorie burning workout, yoga always makes it my body and mind feel good!

The Soundtrack – Brothers

The best part of this morning’s workout though was the soundtrack! It was Brothers,  the new album from Will Ackerman, Jeff Oster and Tom Eaton. I have been eagerly awaiting the release of this album  since they released a single from the album a while back. Brothers has not disappointed me.

I have been a fan of Jeff Oster’s music for several years now. And the last time he joined forces with Will Ackerman in the group Flow, they produced Promise (2019), one of my favorite albums of the last several years.

About  Brothers

Anyway the trio of brothers that created Brothers is composed of : Will Ackermn on acoustic guitars , Jeff Oster on trumpet and flugelhorn and Tom Eaton on everything else Piano, Keyboards, Bass, Electric and Acoustic Guitars, Percussion.

All of the eight tracks were written by Ackerman, Oster and Eaton. Tom Eaton handled the recording, arranging, mixing and mastering. Once again Eaton handled everything else.

Eaton says the following about the band of brothers….

The title almost says it all. There is no doubt that we are brothers, but for me the most important part is that we chose each other. The three of us have made music so many times together, in so many different configurations, but here, when we turn our energies towards each other, we uncover an even deeper bond, and a true collective voice. I am honored to stand with these two guys who have inspired me countless times as a brother in life and music.”

While Jeff Oster says this about the album….

This new release ‘Brothers’ is ‘a quiet, heartfelt moment, which came out of a time in our country which had lot of angst — with the election and COVID pandemic,” Oster said.

and R J Lannan (Artisan Music Reviews) writes

There is a dreamlike quality to the album that seems to open a dimensional door after the first listen. You will like being in there.
