Folk Monday – Dave Potts

Today, I listened to a lot of different folk artists and nothing seemed to appeal to me so just a little while ago I said ok I’ll listen to Dave Potts. So now I’m listening to Dave and I remember why I like his music so much, a nice guy with a guitar writing wonderful songs about life and love! I found Dave’s music  a few years ago when someone mentioned his name on my old yahoo folksingers list. I went and found his album $12.99 listened and I became a fan! The album that I’m listening to now is One Night in the South a wonderful collection of songs about growing up, and loving and just life in general. Here’s Dave with the opening  track “A Day to Remember”:

As I listen there’s just so many good songs on this album like “One Night in the South” a song about finding his home in Alabama and “One Mississippi” a wonderful song about an early and lasting love, and “Mulberry Lane” and then “Martin” about that really cool guy that we all knew in high school  and wondered what happened to him!

One Night in the South is  Dave’s 2003 release. The song “A day to Remember” won 2004 New Folk Song of the Year Award by Just Plain Folks. At the 2005 International Acoustic Music Awards Dave was awarded 1st Place in the Folk/ Americana Roots category.    His other albums include:

South Side Diner (1998)

County Line Road (1999)

Days Like These (2001)

$ 12.99 (2006)

Here’s Dave performing the title track from $12.99!
