So I was out again today surveying the situation up in West Trenton. When I got home I reviewed the Roots Music Report Folk Chart and found a name I was not familiar Peter Bradley Adams and gave a listen to his album Traces . Nice soft folk music. I am listening now to another of Peter’s albums Leavetaking again the music and the vocals sound good. Looking at Peter’s biography I see that he was one half of the duo, Eastmountainsouth. I have their album in my collection and have enjoyed their music. Adam’s music has also appeared in many films and television shows including CBS’ “The Mentalist” , CW’s “One Tree Hill”, ABC’s “Brothers and Sisters” as well as the film “Everbody’s Fine” starring Robert De Niro. I really have only given the album a one listen but I really did like the first two tracks “Family Name” and “For You”. “Darkening Sky was also a track that stood out on the first listen. I’ll give the album a few more listens through the week and write more later!
After Peter I listened to an album that’s been in the player for a little while Trevor Alquire’s ThirtyYear Run. Each time I listen to this album I say yes I like that song and that one so it’s growing and growing on me. The album is more in the Americana genre than folk little more fiddle and a little more up tempo on most songs. Trevor Alguire hails from a small town south of Ottawa Canada. Seems I found a lot of Canadians I’ve liked this year (see Tim Hus, John Wort Hannum). Songs that have stood out include “Full of Rust”, the title track “Thirty Year Run” a song about something that’s not common in today’s world working some place for thirty years! (Uh like the person writing this review) , “Give Up Molly” and “Cold Cold December” a song about days past. Like I said this is an album that is growing on me with each listen. Trevor’s new album Now Before Us was released in August and I can’t wait to hear it! I just checked and CDBaby has it so maybe I’ll ask for it for my birthday!
Here’s “Thirty Year Run” by Trevor Alquire. Gilles Leclerc Trevor’s band mate is featured in this video. His other band mate is Jonathan Ferrabee on double bass.
