On Friday nights I usually go to the basement look through the old vinyl and listen to some music that I haven’t heard for a while! Well this afternoon I went through the CD library on our main computer and put together a playlist of some music I haven’t listened to for a while!
Friday’s seldom heard CD playlist A through M (note that the album shown is Alastair Moock):
A: “Woody’s Lament” and “Cloudsplitter” – Alastair Moock – two of my favorite tracks the first about Woody Guthrie and the second a terrific song about John Brown’s raid on Harper’s Ferry!
B: ” Womb to the Tomb” – Bill Kirchen a good song from an Americana guitar king and former Commander Cody guitarist!
C:”Sweet Eviction” and “Whipping Boy” Chatham County Line – two nice songs from a good bluegrass band I don’t like this album as much as some other bluegrass but still good!
D: “Blue River” from Danko, Fjeld and Andersen. The title track from a favorite Eric Andersen album!
E:”The Blues Rolls On” and “Keep a Dollar in Your Pocket” – two tracks from Elvin Bishop’s album The Blues Rolls On. I am not a big Elvin Bishop fan but this is a good album with lots of guest musicians like Kim Wilson, Derek Trucks,, and B.B. King, who is featured on the second track. I really like the first track!
F: I had The Flower Kings here but I skipped listening to it!
G:” Analog Girl” – one of my favorite Guy Clark songs!
H: “I’m Ready” – Hubert Sumlin – I mentioned Hubert recently so I thought I’d listen to a track from his album About Them Shoes . A great track from a good album!
I: “White Bird” – It’s a Beautiful Day” a classic that I haven’t heard for a while!
J: Jackson & Jane – James Keelaghan – – a nice song from one of my favorite Canadian folk artist love his voice and his songs!
K: “Time to Switch to Whiskey” The Kyle Bennett Band – a good song from good new Texas Country music band!
L: “Rhythm and Bluegrass” Leon Russell – This is the fourth album in the Hank Wilson series – I love the first one Hank Wilson is Back great album. Maybe I’ll listen to that one tonight haven’t heard it for a while!
M: Voodoo – Mem Shannon – a track from a New Orleans blues man that I admit I didn’t get a chance to listen to today!
Time to go to the basement – maybe I’ll finish the rest of the alphabet tomorrow!
