Ok so today was a long day it started early this morning with a drive to Mantua to pick up Andrew and take him to work. This was necessary because he had two flat tires! Then a full work day and a return trip to take his tire back to Mantua. On the way down this AM I listened to Steve Miller’s new album Let Your Hair Down. Pretty good and I will write about it after a few more listens! Here’s the mix from the return trip tonight. The iPod setting was shuffle and recently added!
1. “Snatch it Back and Hold It” Steve Band Band – the opening track for the new album.
2. “Wichita” Don Gallardo from the album When the Daylight Whispers Darling. This is an album that I put on the ipod and then forgot about but this song may make me remember and give it a proper listen!
3. “The Power of the Pontchartrain” Tab Benoit – not a recently added but rather a recently played! Always a good tune to hear! Last night it was a part of a Louisiana block that started with Louisiana Lady by the New Riders of the Purple Sage and included: Louisiana Woman, Missippippi Man by Suzanne Thomas, and “L’Air De La Louisiane” by Jesse Winchester.
4. “Dawn is a Feeling” – The Moody Blues from Days of Future Passed
5. “Broke and Lonely” from Tab Benoit’s new album Medicine, which like Steve Miller’s new album, will be written about shortly!
6. Next to Me – Tab Benoit – from the aforementioned Medicine
7. “Livin’ the Blues” from Mark Dvorak’s album Time Ain’t Got Nothing on Me . An album that I”‘ve listened to briefly and am not quite sure of but it’s growing on me. Some really nice acoustic guitar!
8. “Home” from the Don Gallardo album…. yes I better listen to that one!
9. ” Veteran Cosmic Rocker” from those Veteran cosmic rockers The Moody Blues and the album Long Distance Voyager.
10. and the trip ended like it began with a track from a band that I first listened to in the 1970’s (like Steve Miller only this one’s not new) Poco. “Hear That Music” from DeLIVErin’ an album that I put on the iPod when I was thinking about great live albums because that’s one!
So it was a long day, but once again the music was good!
Here’s a little taste of Tab Benoit’s new album Medicine
