Twang Tuesday – Mid-day Report

so the other night when I was listening to Woodsmoke and Oranges and checking out the musicians who played on the album the name that stood out was Richard Greene on violin. Richard Greene is one of the most influential musicians of all time. You can check out his resume at his website . The album I listened to today was his album Shufflin’ a great collection of music. Since I was working I had it on in the background and wasn’t paying close attention but I know my foot was atappin’ throughout the album. Here’s an example of Richard’s fiddlin’ on one of my favorites. “Uncle Pen”

Next listening to the Josh Graves song “Come on Train” on the  The Earl Scruggs Revue album got me thinking about great dobro players and one of my favorites is Rob Ickes (like bikes). So I listened to his solos album What it is and what it is is a great jazz album with dobro. More thoughts later but here is an example of Rob’s great work!
