So last night before I went eclectic, I was listening to some bluegrass. I listened to two bands that have been on the player for a while the first is Nu Blu Bluegrass Artists so as not to be confused with the blues band. I have seen their names throughout last year and have never found the group on Rhapsody. Recently though I found the band on Napster and quickly downloaded the album.
The album Nights was released in May 2010 along with the first single release, “Spin on the Red Brick Floor.” The album debuted on the Euro Americana Chart at # 10. The album also rose as high as #7 on the Roots Music Bluegrass Report. The album also spent five weeks on the Americana Music Associations Top 40 chart as an indie release.
According to the group biography Nu-Blu was founded in the fall of 2003 by husband and wife team, Carolyn the bass player and vocalist, and Daniel Rout on lead guitar. David also provides the songwriting and some lead vocals. Levi Austin on banjo and Kendall Gales on mandolin round out the band.
The vocals and picking are great throughout the whole album. Since I’ve really been listening to the album on the run I really don’t know all the songs but I do know that the music is good and the album will get a number of spins!!
